Working parents of NYC

As we all know NYC 2017 elections are coming up and a lot is going down. I was watching this discussion about what issues our upcoming candidates should focus on. Statistics show that in Brooklyn, Brownsville, Bushwick and Park Slope are the areas where allegedly has the highest rate of poverty. Along with that is Hunts Point in the Bronx. In all areas (besides Park Slope) it seems that it is because most of these families are single mom oriented areas and moms aren't working full time due to lack of childcare and/or the high cost of childcare. A representative from the CCC (Citizens' Committee for the Children of New York) brought up this issue saying that we need more funding for quality childcare for parents of all incomes. That sounds great but it's a catch 22 and here's why. Let's say you pay $650 a month for childcare. The daycare center is open from 7am-7pm. That's 12 hours a day, 5 days a week= 60 hours per week. If you divide 650 by 60 it comes out to about $10 an hour. A provider can only have a set number of children per one person so any more than that the provider would have to hire someone. Now there is employment tax maybe offer medical insurance which is another cost, then the cost of renting the facility if it is not in their home. So after all is said and done they probably come home with a little less than half of that per child. If you live in NYC then you know no one can live off that. Then there's the point of not only child care but quality childcare. I don't know anyone who wants to work 60 hours a week to come home and still not be able to make ends meet. That was one issue, another huge issue this city has faced is affordable housing. It's been said for years that the shelters are over crowded and the budget should allow more money into lowering the homeless rate. But what is considered affordable housing? $1250 a month to rent a room? This just sounds insane to me. If you do find let's say a one bedroom for $900 it's more likely than not going to be in a rathole in some crappy neighborhood. Let's say these thing were given more money what would we lose? How high will the taxes go to supplement? How much would the fare rise? Who would be eligible for these so called benefits? Who decides?

Men and Women, let's stop being bitches

I have been away for a while because I felt some type of way about being told my posts are one-sided. I received some inspiration and motivation from a lovely Facebook group. I received some advice that makes sense. It's MY blog; I started it to say the things I want to say. If you prefer to read fluff, this is not the blog for you! Moving right along, I'd like to draw attention back to our President's son. A man who thought to release some email exchanges between him and a Russian music publicist that wanted him to have a meeting with a lawyer from Moscow. In the email, the agent says something along the lines of having dirt on Hillary and ending with Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump. You can find the transcript of the emails exchanged at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/11/transcript-donald-trump-jrs-email-chain-meeting-russian-lawyer/      If you still believe that man is innocent, you must be just a dumb as he is. As Trevor Noah, f...

Our dumb ass "President "

So it seems there has been rumors of impeachment proceedings. With all the investigations and his obvious ignorance about the American people. He has tried to pass bills such as "the new affordable health care act". A bill which could leave up to 25 million Americans without health insurance. A good majority of his supporters are currently under "Obama care". What will they do now? Remember during his campaign he said that he was going to "take care of women"? How is defunding Planned Parenthood taking care of women? You do know that abortions are not the only thing that they do. There are men that also go to Planned Parenthood as well. Oh and let's not forget that under the new AHCA rape is considered a pre-existing condition as well as pregnancy. How is that taking care of women? Those same people that say abortions are wrong are the same ones claiming their tax dollars shouldn't have to pay for another single mother that made the "mistake...

Do we fear gay people more than police brutality?

I'm back! Anyway the other day I made 2 separate Facebook posts. One where I spoke about being brought up in a racially biased society. I spoke on a topic that has been studied and experimented with for about 30 years or so. If you don't know who Jane Elliot is, you should find out fast. In the late 1960s early 70s. Elliot was a third grade teacher and right after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated she decided to do an experiment on her third graders to show them what people of color are faced with every single day.The experiment is called "the blue eyed brown eyed experiment". It showed how the anger and urge to fight back comes so naturally. Anyway I won't spend too much time on that. If you'd like to know more visit www.janeelliot.com  . Continuing my second post posed this question: Can u give me a legitimate reason why being gay is wrong WITHOUT using God, the Bible or law/government. My second post (pertaining to the question of gay people) has 6...
